Reading empowers people
A daily dedicated reading space at the school (learning center) Elimu Yetu. From 4pm-5pm, students gather to read books while enjoying soda and popcorn (we've been averaging 25 to 60 students each day). Quiet reading for 45 minutes and discussion for 15 minutes. 4 days per week, students of Elimu Yetu read together for 45 minutes, then discuss for 15 minutes.

Design and deliver a penpal program between schools in East Africa and the United States. Start by connecting ElimuYetu to a few pilot schools here. There are many details that need to be navigated as a result of limited internet access and few students having access to a personal laptop or phone. We are considering both digital and analog programs.
Donors can receive tax deductions
Maktaba.org is currently a joint project between two individuals in partnership with ElimuYetu (a Tanzanian NGO). The plan is to establish an American non-profit to support ElimuYetu, Maktaba.org and other initiatives in East Africa.
Community celebrations and sustainable agriculture
Goats cost $80, so we are hoping to donate $800 worth of goats.

Dance suits for The Movement (aka The Game) to compete in the Dunia Yetu dance competition. The group has already won the regional contest in Arusha and needs to bring something new to win at the national level.
