An Art Director is responsible for creating and overseeing the visual style and design for entertainment, media, and art related projects. This includes selecting the visuals used in commercials, films, television shows, games, websites and other forms of screen-based media. They are responsible for leading the creative team and working with them to ensure the desired outcome is achieved. Art Directors work with writers, producers and other professionals to create a visual representation of the project concept. People who enjoy being an Art Director typically like to be creative and have command of the entire visual process. Art Directors are both creative visionaries with their own aesthetic vision and technical practitioners who use their skills to design and execute their vision in a way that’s usable and enjoyable to the intended audience. They also have the opportunity to work with and learn from a range of people, from other artists, to writers, to directors, and must be able to communicate their ideas and vision in a way that everyone in the project can understand and interpret.
