However in order to secure both food and nutritional security to rural Tanzania households, there is a need of embracing integrated approaches in livestock farming. Pig farming in Tanzania is increasingly becoming a profitable and lucrative business. This is because among other reasons pigs can be fed with a wide range of left overs from the catering industry and crop residues. With pigs around there is zero food waste. For increased profitability management of pigs should be improved along lines of proper housing, disease control, feeding and breeding.
